1. The pellet size is small and uniform, which is conducive to improving the permeability of the blast furnace charge column and the uniform distribution of air flow.

2. The cold strength (compression resistance and wear resistance) of the pellet is high, which is convenient for transportation, loading, unloading and storage, with less powder.

3. The high iron content and bulk density of the pellet are beneficial to increase the effective weight of the blast furnace tower, increase the output and reduce the coke ratio.

4. The pellet has good reducibility.


However, the reduction expansion rate of pellet is higher than that of sinter, which is not good.

What you want to ask is, in terms of technology, this should be understood from the following aspects:

1. The sinter needs to add fuel to the charge, while the pellet does not need to be roasted in the hot waste gas.

2. Bentonite is used as the additive of pellet, but no flux is needed in sintering, generally quicklime.

3. Pellet production depends on high-temperature roasting, the roasting process cannot be observed directly by naked eyes, and the sintering fire directly contacts the materials, so the production situation is very intuitive.

As for the preference of the United States for particles and Japan for sintering, it should be based on the requirements of particles and sintering for raw materials:

Granulation requires a fine particle size of raw materials. Particle size - 200 mesh (- 74 μ m) must be ≥ 80%, specific surface area 1500-2000cm ~ 2 / g, or even higher.

However, the particle size required for sintering is relatively coarse. The particle size of - 150 in raw materials is less than 20%, and the particle size of - 150 in raw materials can only be increased to 40-50% by small ball sintering. It has strong adaptability to coarse-grained raw materials, and can handle all kinds of rich ore powder, coke powder, iron and steel plant dust and iron containing powder waste.
